don’t get me wrong
I am a fan… and i like this song, BUT am I the only one who thinks this song is kind of “messy”? i mean, it sounds too all-over-the-place… it has so many “noise” in it… like..you wish they’re would be a cleaner version of it… i want to hear taka’s voice clearly
i think it has too many effects on it. don’t you think?
My brother and I talked about this the other day. He’s studying musical composition, and he works as a producer too. I made him listen carefully to the song, and roughly translated the lyrics into spanish for him. The first thing he said was that John Feldmann’s prints are all over the song. You can really tell it was him who produced it. Also, he says it was very complex, but technically exact, which is a lot to say not only about a prodecer, but about a human being.
My brother also told me, that the mixing was very accurate towards the concept of the song. If you have the chance to listen to it in the best possible quality, and with a pair of flat headphones (which is a kind of headphones that allows you to listen to the sound in their purest form, unaltered and undistorted), you’ll notice there are a lot of small sounds in the background. From soft whispers to the particual way Taka’s voice gets distorted throught out the song, you can notice a pattern. If you ask me, they remind me of 2 things:
- Tinnitus: a ringging or buzzing in the ears, Which sometimes can be a symptom of Meniere’s desease, a syndrome in which the patient experiences repeated episoeds of tinnitus and vertigo (the feeling of seeing things rotating aorund you, or you rotating around things. It can drive you crazy, trust me), until they finally go deaf. (A valid analogy could be the feeling of “falling into an abyss”. If that is not a “mighty long fall”, then I don’t know what is.)
- Auditory hallucinations: the act of hearings sounds that aren’t real, nor caused by a physical condition. Is commonly asociated with shizophrenia. It’s been described many times by the patients as “having demons in your head”.
In my opinion, the song was mixed according to the concept of the song. It was made to trigger certain kind of thoughts and sensations. So it’s not messy, is just complex. I would like a simpler version, but I’m totally in love with this one.
this is a really nice insight ^_^b makes me see it in a different perspective. and yes, regardless of the too much effect or if it was intended that way (which would be too awesome!), STILL LOVE the song :D [this needs to be read]
